A 'remix' of the track "Downward Spiral" (2016) by Danny Brown - melody/melodyne original.
Features lyrical/musical elements of "Shining Star" (1975) by Earth, Wind and Fire.
Uses samples from Super Mario World (SNES); Super Mario 64 (N64); and one of Dr. Jordan Peterson's old University lectures.
lyrics
[Danny Brown:]
I'm sweating like I’m in a rave
Been in this room for 3 days
Think I’m hearing voices
Paranoid and think I’m seeing ghost-es, [Boo] oh shit
Phone keep ringing but I cut that shit off
Only time I use it when I tell the dealer drop it off
Had a threesome last night, ain’t matter what it cost
Couldn’t it get hard, tried to stuff it in soft
Had to fuck em both raw [Mario: "Hahaha!"], keep my fingers crossed
Been grinding on my teeth so long it's swelling up my jaw
Nothing on but my bathrobe and pinky ring
Your worst nightmare for me is a normal dream
If I learned anything
It's don’t nod off with ya motherfucking cigarette burning
Knocking on my door but I won’t answer
Residue on mirrors, Jojo dancer [Mario: "Aaaaaahhhh!"]
And it's a Downward (downward downward downward)
[EWF: "Shining Star for you to see"]
Gotta figure it out
And it's a Downward (downward downward downward)
[EWF: "What your life can truly be"]
Gotta figure it out

STUT!
Everybody say, you got a lot to be proud of
Been high this whole time, don’t realise what I done
Cause when I’m all alone, feel like no one care
Isolate myself and don’t go nowhere
Smoking blunt after blunt [Mario: "Uhh..."], 'til my eyes burning [Mario: "Ahahahahaha!!!!"]
Hennessy straight got my chest like a furnace
Drowning frustrations in a ocean of sin
Thinking irrational, I have no emotions
Cold cold world [baby penguin], some might say [Mama penguin]
Freezing on the snow, brain feel a bit frostbit
Nauseous, don’t know the last time I ate
But I eat these fucking rappers like fucking last steak
On death row, feel like I knew
You never know, one day you're here, the next you're gone
So I put it up in these songs...
So I put it up in these songs...
So I put it up in these songs...
So I put it up in these songs...
So I put it up in these songs...
So I put it up in these songs...
One day you're here, the next you're gone, gone, gone, gone, gone...
Shining Star for you to see...
And it's a Downward (downward downward downward)
[EWF: "Shining Star for you to see"]
Gotta figure it out
And it's a Downward (downward downward downward)
[EWF: "What your life can truly be"]
Gotta figure it out

[JBP: So but, you...
You lose your job, and then you start to get depressed because of that.
Well then, as you start to get depressed, you know, that decreases the probability that you're going to look for a job; but also maybe starts to put stress on your family; and also starts to decrease the probability that you're going to engage in positive social interaction.
So now, not only are you unemployed, and suffering from economic stress, but your marriage is starting to suffer, and you're starting to isolate yourself from your friends.
So then of course, as your marriage suffers and your stress builds up, then that's gonna make you more depressed, and that's gonna keep you even farther from your friends, and that's gonna decrease the likelihood that you're gonna have enough positive emotion and enthusiasm to look for another job, and then, you know, maybe you wanna add a bit of a drinking problem to that just for fun, and you can see that you can get a spiral going that's just taking you down."]
And it's a Downdowndowndowndownwarddownward
[EWF: "Shining Star for you to see"]
Gotta figure it out
And it's a Downdowndowndowndownwarddownward
[EWF: "What your life can truly be"]
Gotta figure it out
(downdowndowndowndown)
